Remote Machine, asset or device

Intelligent machines or remote assets provide usage and status information often available at local ports. This information can be accessed via proprietary, industry specific or open standard protocols. Information can also be derived from the machine asset or device using sensors e.g. temperature. Conversely, information or "content" can be delivered to remote devices such as digital signage displays that are positioned within retail, corporate, media, transport, hospitality, leisure or goverment locations.

M2M Device

m2m hardwareThe M2M device element of the End-to-End M2M solution enables the remote machine to communicate over the network. Status and control information is transferred over a communication network to a central server. It may be transferred directly to customers' central applications or via middleware.

Comtech offer modems, routers and M2M gateways to facilitate remote machine communication.

Networks & the Internet

Public networks and the Internet are elements of the End-to-End M2M solution that provide "plumbing" between central IT systems and remote machines to exchange information. Comtech provide M2M device solutions for GSM, GPRS, Ethernet and PSTN networks and the Internet.

Middleware

Middleware is an element of the End-to-End M2M solution that provides routing, buffering, formatting and management of the End-to-End M2M data flow. Comtechs Middleware is integrated with the µWEAVE telemetry platform to provide an application view into the the end-to-end data. This provides the supervisory function to ensure reliable and robust data transfer between "machine" and IT worlds.

Web Application

Web applications provide the central management element of the End-to-End M2M solution. Comtech offer:-

  • The µWEAVE M2M telemetry platform, which enables customers to create and tailor a web application for their specific needs. This provides fast time to market with minimal investment - why "re-invent the wheel"?
  • The extra ... wireless digital signage software, which delivers electronic media to wireless digital displays as part of a complete solution to brands, retailers and media advertising companies.

End User Dashboards

Dashboards are simple web pages that present gathered information to End Users in an easy to view format. They hide the complexity of the underlying communication management and are tailored to the end users specific application needs. The µWEAVE system supports end user dashboards.

M2M Services

M2M services are a key element of the End-to-End M2M solution to deliver information to end customers and host applications. Comtech are a "Smart Service Enabler" by providing an end-to-end communication solution on a service basis that OEMs and VARs can wrap their value-added applications to offer managed services to their end users.

Customer Back-Office Enterprise Applications

The customers' back-office applications provide the companies business related enterprise management infrastructure such as Customer Relationship Management (CRM), Supply Chain Management (SCM) and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP). Integrating information autonomously from remote machines enables machine problems to be resolved and business benefits to be realised. Comtech's µWEAVE system provides an automated interface to the customers Back-Office Enterpise systems. Likewise, Comtech's extra... system can be automated with customer IT systems as we do for Camelot.

User Devices

The final element of the End-to-End M2M solution where user devices such as PC's, Mobile phones and PDA's provide the human interface for system administration, reports and alarm notification.
