FTP onboard GSM/GPRS modem
FTP protocol on GSM/GPRS modem transfers files between remote equipment and central IT

µWEB Lite GSM/GPRS modems supports datalogging and a File Transfer Protocol (FTP) client for exchanging information across the GSM/GPRS network. They are available as a GSM/GPRS module for OEM integration into equipment or enclosed as a rugged GSM/GPRS modem box. Optional support is offered for GPS.
FTP operation
An FTP client enables data files to be transferred between the attached machine and a management FTP server. This can be achieved using: -
- An integrated Datalog (E2PROM) as non-volatile data storage, or
- Streaming data directly between the attached machine serial port and central server.
The GSM/GPRS modem enables the attached equipment to PUT, GET, MOVE and DELETE files over the GPRS network and the Internet.
Datalog
The datalog is accessed through the serial port of the GSM/GPRS modem using extended AT-commands.
- Logged data can be transferred to a central server file.
- Files may be retrieved from the FTP server and stored in the datalog, which can then be read by the attached machine.
Streaming data
Under control of the attached machine, files can be streamed through the GSM/GPRS modems by the FTP Client to/from the central FTP server, which is suited to large files which exceed the datalog memory.
Pre-configure
- A configuration utility is available to configure the GSM/GPRS module and boxes from a PC.
- Provides rapid time to market
