BOARD MEMBERS
Non-Executive Chairman − Graham Smith
Graham qualified as a chartered accountant with PriceWaterhouseCoopers and in 1981 he founded Goldsborough Healthcare Limited, which was acquired by Kunick plc in 1985. In 1991 he became Chief Executive of Kunick and went on to lead a management buy out of Goldsborough. The business was expanded through acquisitions and organic growth and, in 1994, was floated on the London Stock Exchange. In 1997 BUPA plc acquired Goldsborough as a platform to expand into long term care. Under Graham's leadership the enlarged business, BUPA Care Services Limited, was rapidly expanded to become the leading provider of long term nursing care in the UK with over 30,000 employees. In the last four years, Graham has been a Non Executive Director of four businesses that were sold for £1bn and is currently Non Executive Director of three other private equity funded businesses.
Managing Director − Sean Keenan
Sean qualified as a chartered accountant in 1993 with Ernst & Young and spent six years in the firm's audit and corporate finance departments. He joined the Hutchinson Smith Group plc in 1996 and played a pivotal role in supporting the acquisitions and integration of five businesses within a two year period. Sean has over 10 years experience of senior management positions.
Non-Exec Director − Graham Mitchell
Graham has 26 years experience in the electronics industry. He has worked in all spheres of electronic design. He spent his early years at Thorn EMI plc in the television research and development laboratories. In 1989 he joined Pace MicroTechnology plc to create the software department and went on to hold the position of Engineering Director on the main board. He was an integral part of the team that took Pace MicroTechnology plc to a full listing on the London Stock Exchange in 1996.
Sales Director − Ian Ward
Ian joined Comtech in 2007 and is responsible for Comtech's sales activities. He has 16 years experience of senior sales, marketing and commercial roles principally with Pace MicroTechnology plc.
EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE
Marketing Director − Steve Whitehead
Steve is responsible for Comtech's overall M2M communication strategy, including asset monitoring and digital signage. He has a background in design engineering, primarily in the data communications market with GEC Telecommunication plc, Gandalf Ltd and Technel Product Ltd. He has a vast experience in the modem, ISDN and embedded communication markets. Steve has a degree in electronics from UMIST and over 20 years experience in the IT industry.
Engineering Director − Jonathan Shires
Jonathan is responsible for Comtech's product line from concept through to production. He has a 1st class Honours degree from Leeds University and has spent over 20 years in design and applications at Farnell Electronics Components Limited and Harris Semiconductor.
Materials & Purchasing Manager − Rowland Barnes
Rowland is responsible for the total supply chain in both the Retail and Communications divisions. His 20 year experience within the electronics market covers procurement and material roles within ICL, Celastica (formerly known as D2D) and was a Senior Negotiator at Pace MicroTechnology plc. He has a Business Studies Degree from Sheffield.
